Česká televize (Czech Television) is the national public broadcaster of the Czech Republic, widely respected for delivering high-quality programming across news, culture, sports, and entertainment. It operates and produces its own 6 HD TV nationwide channels including ČT1, ČT2, ČT24 (news), ČT sport, ČT:D for children and cultural ČT art. The channels are running in 24/7 mode consisting of prerecorded and live content.

Česká televize holds a special place in our history as our very first client. The core architecture of the PROVYS Sphere broadcast management system (in the past called “PROVYS”) was shaped through close cooperation with their teams, based on a thorough analysis of their operational workflows. This partnership laid the groundwork for what PROVYS Sphere is today.

To manage its broad and complex broadcast activities, Česká televize relies on PROVYS Sphere to provide end-to-end support across scheduling, production, acquisitions, and content archiving. Additionally Stream Circle is the emergency playout solution for Czech television. 

PROVYS Sphere provides:

• centralized long-term planning and scheduling across multiple channels, with dedicated support for continuous news and sports broadcasting (ČT24 and ČT sport);
• advanced tools for managing long-term and short-term production budgets, progress tracking, and production materials delivery and description;
• streamlined acquisition processes, including content amortization and integration with financial and accounting systems;
• a richly structured content archive, with assets dating back to the 1950s, supported by comprehensive metadata and advanced search tools.

Stream Circle provides: 

As the emergency playout solution Stream Circle safeguards broadcast continuity by running in parallel with the primary playout system. It continuously receives and processes playlist updates from the main system, automatically manages all required media, and keeps a ready-to-air output feed available 24/7. The entire workflow is fully automated and requires no additional staff. To minimize risks, the emergency platform is built from components different from the primary playout solution, reducing the chance of software errors or failures being replicated.
