PROVYS Software Supports on-Demand Service from Sony Pictures Television International

Monday 7th January 2008 - PROVYS, the integrated software solutions provider for the broadcast sector, has been contracted by Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) to develop software to effectively manage programme content for Sony’s on-demand service, Screen Gems. PROVYS already has an existing relationship with SPTI’s international networks business through its customised software that supports programming scheduling for SPTI’s channels in Germany, Italy and South Africa.

Screen Gems provides viewers with classic programming of the 60s and 70s from the Sony Pictures television library on an on-demand basis. The channel is already available on Tiscali TV in the UK. SPTI plans to extend the service across Europe over the coming months, supported by the content management software developed by PROVYS.

Commenting, Dan Stourac, the PROVYS Account Manager for SPTI, said: "It seemed a natural progression for our software to move into the on-demand area. The newly deployed module builds on the functionality already used by SPTI, enabling the software to become functional easily and quickly."
